Living in different places throughout my life created a desire to learn more about diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have lived in many parts of California, but during the 1990's I was becoming disillusioned with the tech companies moving into my hometown of Mountain View. I picked a place near NYC and moved to Newark, New Jersey in August of 2000, and lived in New York City during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. My love of film started then when I became acutely aware of how everything can change in an instant and my work in the medical field although constant was not filling my creative desires. Filmmaker Agńes Varda changed my life and so did the criterion collection. Never had I been exposed to women filmmakers like Varda and it set me on a journey to return back to school. I studied feminist film theory at California State University Northridge and earned my BA in media studies. I went on to earn my Master's Degree at CSULA and am currently working on my first documentary film. A late bloomer, but I like to think of it as my second act. I created Ladies of Cinema to dive into women who inspire me at any age to go for stories that showcase who we are and whom we can become as dynamic and diverse women.
